Catapult Pictures Inc. is an Alberta-based production company dedicated to producing innovative non-fiction and animation films as well as digital content that reflect innovative and relatable concepts.

 

The company was founded by Rebecca Campbell in 2016 and has worked with Frederick Kroetsch, award-winning producer and creator of APTN’s series Queen of the Oilpatch, since its conception. Catapult Pictures’ first project was a digital stop-motion animated kids series, which won an AMPIA (Alberta Media) award for ‘Best Children’s Series or Program.’ Catapult Pictures went on to produce a pilot for CBC Kids The Girl Who Talks to the Moon, which is based around the Haida language. The company also has experience creating ambient television, with its two VOD projects: Bird Sanctuary and Pulled – A dogsled experience. These ambient projects were paired with 360 video for web. Catapult has gone on to win more awards, including an ‘Edmonton Film Prize’ for its short film OVA. The company has produced corporate videos for the Alberta government, however its focus and passion is story-driven content for broadcasters. More recently, Catapult Pictures joined forces with Canadian Screen Award winning and veteran producer, Bonnie Thompson to co-produce a TELUS Originals feature film, The Secret Society, which will version into other related films. In challenging COVID-19 times, Catapult produced a comedic web-series entitled Girl Brain @ Home, recorded entirely over Zoom, which is now in worldwide film festivals.

 

During non-COVID times, Catapult’s team travels the world to attend markets and events and was part of Alberta’s inaugural film trade mission to China in 2018. Catapult Pictures is currently in development on numerous projects, both documentary and content for kids. Founder Rebecca Campbell is currently a participant in World Banff Media’s Spark program for female content creators.
